This study investigates the use of a novel chlorinated bio-based ester as a secondary plasticiser in flame-retardant PVC formulations. The authors assess its compatibility with PVC, its influence on mechanical and thermal properties, and its contribution to fire performance. The results indicate that bio-based plasticisers can support the development of more sustainable PVC compounds while maintaining key performance characteristics required for demanding applications such as cable systems.
